Wow! This year is nearly over, dear ones.

The STORY of 2020 will go down in history, n’est pas? This epic year has been full of hard, hard things. And I know that for many of you, as for me, it hasn’t just been the pandemic, the racial struggles and protests, and the bizarre election (for those of us in the USA), but there has also been some profound personal struggle.

Here we are in the final days, battle weary and a little nervous about poking our heads above ground to peak at 2021.

I want to invite you into HOPE for this coming year, WRITERS. I want to invite you to be a part of writing the script of a better year to come. My invitation comes with a gift.

Allow me to introduce you to a writer who has inspired and encouraged ME. Watch her video below and then go have a look at yourself in the mirror and ask, “What am I waiting for?”

Peggy Johnson Kalpakian is 98 years old. For most of Peggy’s life, she didn’t consider herself a writer, per se. Her daughter, novelist Laura Kalpakian, is a much published, award winning author, and Peggy’s role—before computers—was to type and retype Laura’s manuscripts. She was no stranger to the FEEL of her fingers on a keyboard, but the words were not hers.

Recently, though, she has become a writer. More than a writer, Peggy has become an author. She told me in an interview we did last month that a few years ago Laura started to “nag” her to write her own life story (I can tell you that “nag” is probably a fair word to use because Laura is a friend of mine, and I’ve been the beneficiary of her nagging from time to time, too). Originally to appease her daughter, Peggy started writing. But soon, her book, Centennial Memoir, which chronicles her parents’ journey across the Atlantic and the subsequent journey of her family to become Americans, became her passion.

Well into her 90s, Peggy finished her first beautiful book!! (I say FIRST book, because I’ve heard rumors she is working on a second one!)

I offer you an excerpt from our interview (video credit to her grandson, the awesome Brendan McKian @mckianmusic). And I ask you… no, I NAG at you… WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Now is your time. Don’t forget to sign up for the Write That Book Already FREE virtual conference to jumpstart the journey. Peggy bears testimony: You can do do it! Now is the time.

**Peggy mentions Laura’s forthcoming book. It isn’t available yet for pre-order but we will let you know when it is.
